Barbara Nyes to Helena
I would have liked to stay at the llama ranch for longer but we had to continue on our route. Today we had two more Continental Divide crossings, both were unsigned.
Two more crossings meant more climbing. The first climb was on a very rocky and rutted road. We passed by two old mining sites.
Our second Continental Divide(CD) crossing was at the top of Roundtop Mountain.
The second climb of the day taking us to our third CD crossing was over Priest Pass. A thunderstorm was following us and the rain caught us at the top. We quickly donned our rain jackets and raced down the mountain, getting ahead of the rain and into the sunshine again.
Our destination for the day was Montana’s capital city, Helena. I wasn’t ready to be in civilization again!
We are staying at the Lamplighter Cabins tonight- a real bed all to myself!!
