GDMBR day 13 – Friday, July 28, 2023

I’ve switched to Strava because Ridewithgps was shorting me on the elevation and I work hard for all those feet climbed!

Total miles – 463.60 Total ascent – 36,338 ft

Helena, MT to Basin, MT

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Alison today. After dislocating her shoulder she is headed back home to Hawaii.

Alison is truly amazing!

Jen and I left Helena shortly before 7 this morning because we had a big day ahead of us. We would be climbing over 5000’ and the elevation would be the highest yet, over 7000’.

Helena looks like a cool little city, maybe I’ll come back with more time to explore.

We are staying at the Merry Widow Mine Campground. They mined silver and gold here until the early 1950’s. It was discovered that the radon gas in the mine had healing properties and people come here to sit in the mine for and hour at a time and drink the spring water.
