GDMBR day 21- Saturday, August 5, 2023

Lima to Red Rock Lakes Campground

Total miles – 770.30 Total ascent – 53,950 ft

The key word today was mud! It rained the past few days making parts of the dirt roads very muddy. And the mud out here in Montana clings on to anything it touches.

Leaving Lima
Moody skies
Muddy roads ahead
Too gummed up to roll
The motorcyclists weren’t faring any better

The other very exciting thing of the day was witnessing a real cattle drive, complete with cowboys and cowgirls on horses.

At first there was a buzzing black mass on the hill- turn your volume up!
The cows really don’t want to be moved. Look for the cowboys

About a half hour before we reached camp the very moody skies let loose with a thunderstorm. All the mud on my legs was washed off by the pounding rain. We got into camp completely soaked. The rain stopped shortly after and things have started drying out.

Very ominous sky

Wow! The cattle drive is awesome. A sight you’ll only see on a trip like this!
