GDMBR day 38 – Tuesday, August 22, 2023

Total miles – 1444.70 Total ascent – 94,230 ft

We left Steamboat Springs today on a lovely bike path along the river. The river is quite sulphuric and therefore is smelly.

The ski jump practice area in Steamboat Springs

We saw so many road cyclists out in the surrounding countryside. The drivers in general were more courteous.

We rode partway around this reservoir
Arriving at camp

As soon as we arrived in camp a thunderstorm started so it was a rush to put up my tent and now I’m cozy in it while it booms outside.

So fun to see your progress! Finally Colorado!
When will you be near Silverton/Frisco/Breckenridge.
We are headed to a 3.5 day backpacking trip through the Wind River Range but will be in Vail area starting Monday night. Not sure if our paths will cross. I think we may just miss you. You will love the long bike path along Dillon reservoir and into Breckenridge. We even loved the climb up Boreas pass. Such great views!

Hi Emma, we are in Silverthorne tonight and in Salida in two days. It seems like we are moving fast and slow at the same time. By Monday we will be south of Salida. Have fun on your trip!!

So sweet to be in a tent (or my pop up trailer) and hearing the rain.
