GDMBR day 41 – Friday, August 25, 2023

Total miles – 1608.90 Total ascent – 105,943 ft

We left Heaton Bay Campground under ominous skies. We rode along for about 14 miles along a beautiful bike path from Dillon to Breckenridge. No pictures because we were trying to get over Boreas Pass before the rain.

Train park just before the climb

The climb up Boreas Pass was delightful. A nice gentle grade and not too much traffic. It did rain on us for a little bit but stopped before we got to the top.

Straddling the Continental Divide on Boreas Pass

After topping out at our highest elevation yet we had an enjoyable descent. After that we had about 20 more miles to get to our destination. Dark skies were on both sides of us and thunder boomed frequently. We had some rain squalls and it was good to finally pull into the Hartsel Ranch where we are camping inside of a barn like structure. So nice to be dry for the night!
