GDMBR day 54 – Thursday, September 7, 2023

Total miles – 2090.25 Total ascent- 143,894 ft

So today was the hardest day yet of the whole ride. The first 30 miles included lots of rock and sand, both going up and down.

We were under a time crunch because our leader/sweep Steve thought we wouldn’t finish until after dark. We started riding at 7:15 a.m.. We ended up finishing around 6 p.m. so we were in good time!

Ranch near the beginning of the ride
One type of rocky, sandy road
D’Arcy and Steve

We didn’t have much time to take pictures.

View from the top of the mesa as we were beginning our descent.

Tonight we are staying in the town of Cuba at a motel that is just one notch up from the dump that Keri and I stayed in Ephrata the first year we did XWA. Bellies full from dinner at a Mexican restaurant, now time for bed.

The road surface may be terrible, but the photos are beautiful!
