GDMBR day 33 – Thursday, August 17, 2023

Total miles – 1259.90 Total ascent- 79,739

A & M Reservoir to Rawlins

Sunrise, just before taking off

Finally Jen and I have seen some wildlife. Last night at camp on the hill across from us there was a herd of Pronghorns. And today a herd ran across the road while we were biking.

Pronghorns

Pronghorns are not antelopes nor are they deer. They are in their own family and are more related to giraffes and okapi. They are the fastest land mammal in the western hemisphere, running up to 55 mph.

We also saw a small herd of wild horses

Sorry the pictures aren’t clearer
Today’s ride was mostly on pavement, including this long uphill stretch on highway with a good shoulder.
Another divide crossing

Tonight we are staying at a KOA in Rawlins, Wyoming where Jen, Sarah, and I are sharing a Tiny one room cabin. No messing with tents!!!

Annie – I just got back from a little trip of my own and got caught up on reading your blog. I’m enjoying the photos and narrative. Look like some lovely riding! The weather looks like it has been good? Keep it up!

The weather is decent, sometimes hot but always cold at night.
